La Nave Restaurant
We understand that great dining experiences are shaped not only by food and service but also by the ambience. For this project, our client’s priority was to achieve a high level of sound absorption in their restaurant, creating a more pleasant and comfortable environment for their patrons and staff.
A unique aspect of this installation was the acoustic felt design, which featured a custom print created by the client’s own designer Carlo Schembri &Bold. The supplier, Slalom, printed the design directly onto the acoustic felt and prefabricated it for precision. Drawing inspiration from the restaurant’s connection to the National Aquarium nearby, a distinct wave pattern was developed to cover three walls.

Adding to the complexity, the largest wall was curved. This required careful shaping and alignment of the prefabricated panels to ensure a seamless finish that followed the wall’s natural contour. The second phase of materials arrived during the client’s peak season in July and August. To avoid disrupting operations, our team coordinated early-morning installations before breakfast service, ensuring the restaurant was ready to welcome guests for lunch each day without interruption.

The result was a significant improvement in both acoustics and aesthetics. The new acoustic treatment reduced reverberation and background noise, leading to enhanced speech clarity, increased privacy between tables, and greater comfort for diners. These benefits extended to the restaurant team as well; staff experienced clearer communication and a calmer work environment, contributing to more efficient service.
By combining functional sound absorption with bespoke design, this project demonstrates how acoustic solutions can seamlessly integrate with a venue’s aesthetic vision. Together with our client, we transformed the space into one that looks beautiful, sounds better and delivers a more enjoyable dining experience for every guest.
